The character in the film was inspired by first-time screenwriter Tory Kamen’s late grandmother Elinore, who passed away at the age of 99 in 2020. The 25-year-old British actress, known for her role in the Disney+ series Willow, took on the role of Eleanor’s young friend in the film.
